EMR Options
In 2008 Croydon Community School expanded its operations, assuming responsibility for the four Student Development Centres (SDC’s) spread across the Eastern Metropolitan Region (EMR). The Reconnecting Youth, Leaps and Bounds, Primary Donvale, and Primary Woori Yallock SDC’s provide short-term intervention programs and support for students with social and emotional challenges which impact on them achieving effectively at school.
In 2009, a new regional organisation - EMR OPTIONS (under the management of Croydon Community School) will be provided to EMR Primary and Secondary Schools. EMR OPTIONS will work across the Region to support schools from a preventative model and will provide a range of interventions to support schools working with students with complex needs. It is expected that this new organisation will provide EMR schools with outreach support, professional development, secondary consultation and a revised intake service model.
In addition, EMR OPTIONS, in partnership with EMR and Victoria Police will introduce “Operation Newstart Eastern” – an intervention program for targeted students. This placement program will provide opportunities for students to develop new skills and self confidence in a high challenge, outdoor pursuit endeavour.
